I wish you’d strung a little more tight
Hold me the same, as we entwined in patterns
That deluded all in plain sight
When I wrapped, it wasn’t just me
I entwined each fiber within
When I caught yours, it wasn’t just a tie
I embraced every strand, whether or not in sin
Those few that threaded astray
Shined brilliantly in ember-like showers of the sun
The gold that dazzled from a jute brown
Donned the dance we twirled, in-turn
Our steps singing different tunes
The cadence echoed a laughter amidst knots
Our patterns kissing a paint found in dirt
We weaved an art which we never thought
I wonder where it came from
The plucking of that wretched tug
I wish we’d strung on tighter
Forgetting not, that it was more than just a hug
