Crawled up
In dark corners
In panting storms
Within the soul
And the lump
Of withering flesh
In pain
And morbidity;
Hypocrite temples
Threatened kitchens
Let-down classrooms
And abandoned hallways
It sings
A ballad
Of her shameful strength
Her ugly power
To birth the world
The red
Strangled quiet
Hung it’s head low
A pallor
In fright of girls
That shall blossom
A misconstrued shade
Of shame soon.
The colour
Of a life
The dirt
Of scrappy cloths
Of shunned souls
And biased soars
The red escaped my lips
And they were padded shut
No! It shushed me
It’s red alert. .
