Judging the Endgame

Avengers: The Endgame was probably the most awaited film of 2019. The conclusion to almost a decade worth of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films took the world by storm as it released globally on 26th April 2019. All the shows in my local cinema were booked out! 23 additional shows had to be added just to meet the demand of the tickets! Fortunately my wifi was strong enough and my typing speed was fast enough to grab a ticket for myself!

But just letting you know, Thanos becomes a farmer.

From the opening shot itself, the movie was able to convey that Thanos had actually won and the world vis-a-vis the universe was suffering from the consequences of his villainous victory. The movie does a good job at showcasing the aftermath of such a victory. (The reduction of pollution and the restoration of wildlife does make you question the side you are rooting for though)

Unlike its predecessors, ‘The Endgame’ has a more serious and dark theme to it. There are multiple moments in the movie which are heart wrenching. Even if you aren’t a hardcore Marvel fan (like me), you will still find yourself feeling sad at the sacrifice of some of the heroes. There are also moments which will crack you up, something which the MCU films were always good at. It’s definitely a mixed cuisine!

Throughout the movie, you will be gripped with the sense of excitement and nervousness. The question, “What happens next?” will keep you on the edge of your seat at all times. This atmosphere can be felt in the cinema hall as well. People will be cheering or gaping in awe as the story progresses and this only adds to the excitement of the film (Unless the person sitting next to you chews too loudly).

A perfect happily-ever-after ending is something all of us hoped for. But the stakes are high and difficult decisions were made. The final battle is the most epic battle of the MCU you will ever witness. The Avengers assemble one last time to defend the Earth and the universe from the scourge of villainy and darkness. I won’t spoil it for you, you will have mixed feelings at the end of it. But it is all for the greater good.

Apart from a few clichés, I will not deny that I absolutely enjoyed watching the movie. With some unexpected twists to the story and the darker than usual theme, Avengers: The Endgame is worth watching, especially in the movie theatre. Do not miss out on this one, go and get yourself a ticket as soon as possible!
